AI Agents and the Future of Delegation

What happens when software stops waiting for instructions and starts handling workflows over time.

For most of computing history, software has waited. We click, it responds. The new generation of AI agents flips that contract: the software is allowed to act, over time, on our behalf, with judgement.

That sounds like a technical change. It is mostly a managerial one. The bottleneck is no longer how clever the model is. It is how clearly we can describe what good looks like — and how much we trust the work to leave our hands.

Companies that learn to delegate to agents the way they learn to delegate to people will move differently. The rest will keep clicking.

We are about to learn how good we actually are at delegating.
